Centre Game, Danish Gambit [C21]. We start from a position given in example by Aron Nimzovich in "My System", about the Advance of development.

The main idea is that, if you exchange a piece having played two or three times with a piece which has played only one time, you lost automatically one or two times of development.

X0 The correlative idea is that to save times of development the best way is to develop, if possible, his pieces with threat. The following short game is a good illustration at this subject.

1.e4 X1 e5 X2 2.d4 X3 exd4 X4 3.c3 X5 Nf6 X6 4.e5! X7

The right move according to NIMZOVICH. White plays again his e-pawn, but attacks the Black Knight.

4...Ne4! X8

A good answer according to NIMZOVICH. The e4-Knight plays for the second time but is in an agressive posture and controls c3 and d2-squares.

[ Possible is: 4...Qe7 X9 5.cxd4 X10 d6= X11 ]

5.Bd3 X12 d5! X13

NIMZOVICH judges it is the best reply. Nevertheless, NIMZOVICH adds the comment: "Black would be wrong to believe them in safety, because they are threatened of an attack on Ne4 (by Nc3) with gain of time."

6.cxd4 X14 Bb4+ X15

This is an active move and the coordination between both Black pieces is obvious.

7.Bd2 X16

The exchange in d2, of the Knight (having played two times) and the White Bishop, is necessary and NIMZOVICH notices that, this way, Black losts a time.

7...Nxd2 X17 8.Nxd2 X18

It may be interesting to pursue our analysis.

8...Qg5! X19

Black continues to play actively. The Queen threatens Qxg2 and obligates White to weaken his King' s side pawn-structure.

9.g3 X52 Nc6! X53

Again a Developing move with threat.

10.Bb5 X54

To counter the threat on the d4-pawn White is obliged to play again his Bishop, restoring the equality of time.

10...Bg4 X55 11.Qc2 X56 0-0 =/+

Black has completed his Development after having played actively and may be credited of a little advantage.
