GENERAL CHESS THEORY

CHESS THEORY - PRESENTATION

The Chess Theory has been advancing and specifying through the last centuries. It is rather convenient, for expressing this evolution, to distinguish, in addition to the contemporary period, two main stages of development. The first one, classical as it is called, includes theoretical and practical works of Greco, Philidor, Staunton and then covers all the rich and productive period elapsing until Leipnitz and finally Tarrasch. This is well the entirety of these researches that is named the «Classical Chess Theory».
At the beginning of the XXth century was created, principally under the influence of Aaron Nimzowitch, Richard Reti and Xavier Tartakower, a School commonly named «hypermodern». This one took radically the opposite point of view of classical conceptions, at least concerning some well established and fundamental principles, as those relative to the «center».
Since this time, the Chess Theory continues to grow up with many contributions, including nowadays, leading to a mature conceptualization; this one is named «Modern Chess Theory».
In the «New Chess Theory» , presented on this site, we develop a new way of looking at chess. These new ideas don't refute at all previous opinions and judgments, but nevertheless provide a profoundly renewed vision of the «Noble Game of Chess».
Our motivations are also presented in the : «Quick introduction» and, in a more explicit way, in ««New Chess Theory» : Why?». Finally the «Dynamic Classification», proposed here, concerning chess games, gives a first outline of our main ideas.
