CHESS THEORY

- QI - QUICK INTRODUCTION -

«Chess Theory Lecture» is structured in three levels.

  • The first one
  • (CCT - Classical Chess Theory)
may be considered like a comprehensive basic course adapted to novice or young chess player, but is equally expected to be useful for everyone wishing go deeply the understanding of chess foundations.
  • The second one
  • (MCT - Modern Chess Theory)
may be tackled with profit by all chess player owning a good knowledge of chess bases
  • The third one
  • (NCT - New Chess Theory) :
Our NCT is certainly a little more technical and request an higher level of reflexion. Its reading isn't recommanded to a beginner or a blitz chess player not at all interested by the theory of chess.
In fact we actually think a good and fruitful understanding of the NCT needs three conjoint conditions : i) To have a good experience of chess practice (it's not necessary at all to be a strong player!); ii) to own a reasonable knowledge of current chess theory; iii) to be devoid of prejudice and to keep an intact liking for intellectual speculation.

QI-A - From the Classical to
    the Modern Chess concept

You'll find soon, in the following pages, dedicated to «Chess Theory», what you expect to satisfy plainly your own curiosity and expectations, in any case if possible !...
At first you can access a structured and simple statement of the «Classical Chess Theory». Systematized by the first World Chess Champion William Steinitz, then by Dr. Siegbert Tarrasch, this one bring together the main part of basic rules and processing necessary to play chess, in fact todays still applied. Until a certain player's level it is fully sufficient to «faire bonne figure» (we mean to reach satisfactory performances) in front of chessboard.
At the beginning of twentieth century, was founded principally on the impulse of Aaron Nimzowitch, Richard Réti, Hans Kmoch and Xavier Tartakower a school named «hypermodern». This new concepts was presented by «Hypermodern Chess» founders like a revolution. At the present time some new ideas and refinements specify and complete previous works and contributions. Also it is possible now to mention the «Modern Chess Theory» like the whole of currently acquired knowledge relating to Chess.

    QI-B - Looking for a
    new explanation

It is understandable that people search, today, to go deeply into all this reflection. Consequently we have tried to explore again «Chess Mysteries»... looking for a new explanation. Under the name of «New Chess Theory» we develop a new way of thinking chess. Far from us the idea to refute or only to take the opposite course of present opinions about chess theory.

In fact, our viewpoint is presented more explicitly in «New Chess Theory» : Why ?». Lastly the «Dynamic classification», here suggested, of chess games, gives a first panoramic sight of main ideas of our approach.
